Dart Team - An Acrostic Poem

Dedicated to being present at every match and doing what's best for the team.

Accomplishments made possible through the encouragement and support of those that surround you.

Respect not only for yourself and your teammates but for every opponent as well.

Trust that even if you falter, a teammate will step up to make a difference and carry on to the finish.

Together we as a team can achieve more than a single player ever would by him/her self.

Entertain each other with unique stories, joyous theatrics, and overall camaraderie.

Adapt and overcome any situation that might arise at any given moment.

Memories of people, places, and feelings that will last you a lifetime and beyond if you choose to pass them on.

Over 25 years and still throwing!

Whether you have just joined a team or have been a part of the defining history of the last 25 years, it's obvious that this league is about so much more than just throwing darts.  Every single Tuesday night breeds its fair amount of rich experiences that seem to last in your mind for longer than you might expect.

The first time I threw a dart in this league (over 6 years ago), I was a ball of nervous energy.  I was afraid I would let down all these new people who I saw as professional dart players and that we would lose because of me.  I was so very wrong, what actually happened was something life changing.  I don't know what I hit or if all of my darts hit the board, but after I was done throwing, everyone in the bar applauded for me.  As I walked back toward my team, so many fists were thrust at me that I might as well have been in a boxing gym.  From that moment on I have been helplessly hooked on this league.

Like everything in life, we will have our ups and downs.  We will have good nights and bad nights, huge wins and sad losses, but the greatest thing about the Gay and Lesbian Association of Darts is no matter what happens, you will always have the camaraderie of your fellow players to congratulate or console you.  You will hear that roaring of applause and experience the huge sense of pride when you hit that winning dart.  You will feel the overwhelming pride for someone else when they succeed, whether they are on your team or not.  Most importantly, you will know in the back of your mind that every time you throw a dart and pay your dues, that money is going to a charity that is benefiting our community and that you are a big part of making that difference.

A member of the league that is creating lifelong smiles, one dart at a time.

25 Years of GLADly Giving

The Gay and Lesbian Association of Darts (G.L.A.D.) is celebrating 25 years of giving to the Phoenix community. To celebrate this historical occasion, the G.L.A.D. dart league will be using the team monies for the Summer 2013 season and the Winter 2014 season
